LENT

This year, the season of Lent, a period of forty days leading up to the Great Three Days before Easter Sunday, begins with an early Ash Wednesday on February 17th.

We will observe Ash Wednesday and an opportunity to be marked with a cross of ashes on our foreheads at an evening service at 7:00 that day.

During the five full weeks of Lent, a Wednesday evening service with communion will be offered at 7:00 p.m. Those dates are February 24th, March 3, 10, 17, and 24.

As has been the custom of past years, the preacher and presider for each Wednesday will be a Lutheran pastor from one of our nearby churches. Each service on Wednesday will be preceded by a Bread and Broth supper - an opportunity to share conversation and nourishment together. Look for a sign-up sheet for providing soup, and plan to join us on Wednesdays!

Lenten School of Theology

God of Faith & Science - An Exploration of the Intersections of Science and the Divine

You are invited to join the annual Lenten School of Theology on the first three Sundays in March from 6-8p @ St Stephen Lutheran Church (537 Bolton St, Marlborough). This year’s topic is God of Faith & Science, an exploration of the relationships between faith & reason, religion & technology, God & creation. Each week we will be led through different topics by presenters who are leaders in each field:

Mar 7—God & the Wonders of the Universe - The Rev. Dr. David Buehler

Mar 14—God & the Care of Creation - Dr. Jessica Sutherland

Mar 21—God & New Social Technologies - The Rev. Keith Anderson

The Lenten School of Theology is presented by the Central Massachusetts Conference of the NE Synod and is free of charge (although a suggested donation of $5 @ registration is appreciated). See Pastor Judy for a registration form.
