A Typical Day
The school has been in existence for over 35 years. The Nursery School serves children ages 3-5 years old. Our school calendar runs consistent with the West Boylston Public Schools, following all the same major holidays and vacations.
T/TH morning - Three-year old class
M/W/F morning - Four-year old class
M-F afternoon - Pre-K Class
M-F Lunch Bunch - All registered children for lunch
Our preschool program offers a curriculum which encourages individualism, social, emotional and physical development. Activities include, but are not limited to, crafts, projects, table toys, puzzles, games, sand and water play, structured and unstructured play, stories, weather, calendar, sharing and many more learning activities. Outdoor play is an important and daily part of our day.
A typical morning:
9:00-9:15 - Children arrive; greeting and socialization
9-15-10:20 - Indoor play experiences, daily art or craft project, work at tables
10:20-10:30 - Clean up, get ready for circle time
10:30-10:50 - Circle time, stories, music, calendar
10:50-11:00 - Snack time
11:00-11:30 - Get jackets, backpacks, collect projects get organized - Go Outside
11:30 - Children depart
(Afternoon programs, 12:30 - 3:00, are similarly structured)
Christ Lutheran follows the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care guidelines for the staff/child ratio. We always have one lead teacher-qualified instructor, plus at least one additional teacher or aide for every one to ten children in the classroom. Often we exceed these requirements.
The school is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA) and governed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) of the State of Massachusetts. All teachers and aides are First Aid/CPR Certified.
